be running on that server. Make sure that the application supports
the new environment, or that an acceptable substitute is available,
and evaluate any changes to licenses that the move may incur.
System Landscape Directory (SLD) availability. The
configuration in this guide assumes that SAP Solution Manager is
not running on the system you are migrating. So, in this scenario,
SLD data is continuously available. If your central instance server
also manages your SLD, the SLD data will be unavailable for a
short time. The process of moving the Solution Manager and SLD is
outside the scope of this guide.
Scheduling. Be sure to time the migration in such a way that it
can complete without disrupting existing service level agreements,
maintenance and backup schedules, etc.
Training. The systems administrators and operations staff will
need to know how to manage the new operating system
environment. Fortunately, there is not a large learning curve
between managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux and managing Solaris,
so little training is required to move from one environment to the
other.
